Hallway

On Memorial Day weekend we cleaned up and finished most of the second floor including the Hallway.  A few touch ups on the walls perhaps, but hey, this area rocks!

Here you can see the installed and working light fixture in the Hallway.  Rick installed the smoke detector & light fixture on March 6th & 7th, and Kass' son Rick Close installed the intercom system on the 1st.  Once we paint the floor and touch up the base molding, the hall way will be completed!

Here you can see the painted hallway and the upper half of the stairs as seen from the the Hallway.  Kass spent nearly a week scraping, bleaching and priming to get this area ready!

On September 16th, Kass and her sister in law, Janette Kirchhofer, cleaned, scraped, bleached and swept out the hallway area as well as some others.  We hope to be completed with the entire upstairs within a couple of months!

Here for the first time in who knows how long (since 1987?) we have all the doors installed and closed in the Hallway.  Some of the doorknobs need replacing and repair work, but it's all coming back together now!  You can just see a stub of wire hanging down in the upper left picture from the light fixture wiring we have in place next to a smoke detector box as well.
This will really suck New & improved!
To the left you can see the central vacuum system we are putting in for cleaning.  Above we have (left) the new light switch for the stairs and the Hallway area and (right) a box for the intercom system we will install.

Going down?
Here is the Hallway for the upstairs floor looking to the back of the house.  The marks on the floor to the Master Bedroom are plaster, not warped wood.
A crack in the wall at the top of the stairs, but no signs of major stress in the hallway were to be found.  The doors don't close too well yet but as we level it out they are improving.
Washed out view looking down the stairs from the Hallway.  The window has a crack in it, but for the most part the plaster walls are intact with just some paint peelings to deal with.
