Den

Still trying to get everything sorted out, we do have the computer system (left) and Kass' Scrapbooking unit set up.

Even though we are just now moving things into the house, Kass already has set up her scrapbooking table and used some of her equipment!

On Memorial Day weekend, we completed the Den Room.  Above left the light fixture and completed picture rail.  Upper right, just waiting for the paint to dry on the door before putting the lock plate and doorknobs back on.  Lower left completed base moulding and outlets, and lower right the area rug we found for the Den.

Once again the Den room is storing pieces until they can be installed. Meanwhile, we did get the recessed lighting working and mount the smoke detector. We also have most of the picture rail up as well!  Still looking for a light fixture.

Here are a couple of shots of the painted Den Room.  We haven't done the molding yet because some of the pieces appear to be missing.  Once they've been dug out and put up we'll do more pictures.  The floor in this room was salvaged so once it's painted, this room will be done!
.................................

October 27th saw the Den room mudded after Rick & Kassandra had put up the sheet rock during the week.  We've had to bring a propane heater into each room we work on to get the paint or mud to dry!

On the weekend of October 20th, Kass finished up the insulation in the Den and cleaned out the flooring.  Hopefully Sunday Big Rick can put up the sheetrock and finish the last room in the house waiting for new walls!

On the weekend of 9-30-2007, we insulated the exterior walls preparing the room for sheet rock.  Left you can see most of the wiring for the second floor was routed through the wall here in the Den Room.  We plan to put bookshelves on this wall  Above, the last remaining original wall in the Den room.

Rick cleaned out the last of the lathe & plaster we wanted to remove on 9-10-06.  All of the molding we have saved from throughout the house is stored in here along with a wall mount sink we may use in the Half Bath that was originally in the upstairs bathroom.  The wood flooring in this room is original to the house and was saved when we removed the water damaged floor in the Living Room.

All cleaned up! Here we've cleaned up the room a bit, and you can even see the floor under the rug where it was pulled up!  Everything looks solid & dry in this room.  We're storing lumber & the doors from the china cabinet & the french doors from the Parlor in here now.  The orange string hanging down in the middle of the room was a pull string for the light.  We plan on putting in built in bookshelves in here to match the original style of the house.

Reverse angle where you can see the door to the future Half Bathroom.  The door frame shows that the door used to be hinged on the other side and opened inward in what we believe used to be a pantry that also led to the Kitchen.  We plan on leaving this area as is, to give the first floor a bathroom.
It's a sunny day
                outside my window...
So many doors to choose
                from!

This angle shows the door to the future Half Bathroom and out into the Living Room & Kitchen areas.  Not sure if the door will remain there or not, but probably will.  The china hutch doors and french doors from the Parlor are stored here while we work on those rooms.

This was the Den room as we first saw it.  We think originally it was 'servents quarters', and last served as the Master Bedroom.
The Den is in almost perfect condition. There is a "butlers pantry" in this room that we will turn into a Half Bathroom.
Original view looking from the Den into the Living Room and Parlor. Once all the plaster mess was cleaned up, it didn't look as bad.
